Good news for Carrigans and Letterkenny plants

AFTER a bleak year on the jobs front there was some good news yesterday (Thursday) with confirmation that more than 100 manufacturing jobs have been secured. Donegal Meats in Carrigans has reversed its decision to cease production in the boning hall - safeguarding 91 jobs while new orders at Medisize Ireland Ltd in Letterkenny has led to the postponement of plans to cut 25 employees from the workforce. Ramelton man charged with identifying Aussie Rules talent

THE Donegal man who acts as Ricky Nixon's right-hand man in Ireland has said that the chance to play Australian Rules Football would be a 'massive opportunity' for Tir Chonaill star Michael Murphy. Ramelton man Seamus McDaid admits that he would be 'disappointed as a Donegal supporter' were the Glenswilly man to leave these shores, but would see it as a big chance for the player. Young Donegal student in Fashion Show finals

Ayoung Donegal student has made it to the short list to compete at the DIT Alfa Romeo Fashion Show in Dublin's Vicar Street Christina McBarron from Donegal town who studies Drama at DIT is modelling a design by Joye Sillery from Dublin entitled 'Rock a Doll'. The DIT Alfa Romeo Fashion Show, which has a 'Rock Revolution' theme, is now in its seventh year and is run entirely by students from DIT.
