New-born baby got MRSA in general hospital

A North Donegal mother whose new-born baby contracted MRSA at Letterkenny General Hospital is angry at being left in the dark on how to deal with the infection.

1,200 medical card holders disqualified

OVER 1,200 patients in Donegal lost possession of the full medical card last month, the highest reduction of claimants in the country.
From May to June this year the number of full medical card holders in Donegal decreased from 74,373 to 73,137, a reduction of 1,236 patients. The figures were released by the Primary Care Reimbursement Service, a sub section of the Health Service Executive.

More gardai assigned to rural stations welcomed

THERE has been an increase in the number of gardai posted in rural stations around Donegal since the beginning of this month, it has emerged.
According to well placed sources, there has been a "considerable" increase in garda numbers in all four garda districts across the county.

Major changes in political face of Donegal

PROPOSALS to change the electoral boundaries will radically alter the political map of Donegal.
The Milford electoral area will be subsumed within the Letterkenny boundary, Glenties and Donegal will each lose a councillor while Stranorlar will gain two.
