A 24-years-old Letterkenny man was still receiving treatment in hospital yesterday (Thursday) after what gardai have described as a vicious assault.
The man was found in his car in the Back Lane area of Ramelton at 9am on Wednesday with severe injuries to his face, arms and legs. He had been subjected to a severe beating.
The victim was last seen in the Fernhill area of Letterkenny at around 9pm on Wednesday. He was discovered in the car in Ramelton by a local man who alerted gardai.
Speaking to the Donegal News, Superintendent Jim Gallagher confirmed a team of detectives were investigating the 'vicious assault' and appealed to anyone with information to come forward. "The victim was severely traumatised after the assault. His injuries are not life threatening but were severe. He was found in the front seat of his car. We're appealing to anyone who has information or may have seen anything suspicious in the Letterkenny or Ramelton areas to come forward," he said. The victim was driving a Red Vauxhall Corsa with the registration 03 DL 4618. "He is being treated inhospital and we're anxious to interview him," he said.
