Five Key Ways for You to Save When Booking a Holiday

For many people, taking a foreign holiday is one of the biggest luxuries of the year. It’s a welcome break from the everyday routine of heading to work, but it can often be expensive. When and where you want to go, and how much you are prepared to spend when you’re out there will all contribute to one of the most intensive spending periods of the year, but there are plenty of ways to save. With more airlines offering cheap flights than ever before, and flexibility on your trip allowed by many internet travel companies, there’s never been a better time for a holiday on a slim budget. Here are a five key ways to make sure you save when it comes to booking and going on holiday:

  1. Use comparison sites on the internet to see the best deals for plane tickets, car hire, hotel rooms, cruises and travel insurance. Check out the aforementioned links, but be sure to do more research; check a variety of sources for each element of your package.

  2. If you’re booking a familiar trip, then try to make your own arrangements. Buy it yourself holidays have become much more popular in recent years due to price reductions. Use a travel agent for more complicated holidays, such as a honeymoon or package tour.

  3. Travelling to destinations during their off-season will save you large amounts of money, and you’ll be able to beat the crowds. For instance, head to places in Europe in the winter, the USA and the Caribbean in September to October.

  4. Check out all inclusive hotels or holiday villas. Not having to go out and pay for meals every night is likely to save you plenty of cash, and it probably won’t put as much strain on your belt either.

  5. Plan it all early. Many cruise lines offer specials if you book long in advance, while air travel is also likely to be discounted. If you’re going to park at the airport then make sure you pre book; for Gatwick Airport parking, turning up on the day could hit you with a 60% premium rate.
