Patrick Shields launches 'Divine Inspiration' CD 'Divine Inspiration' is the title of a brand new CD by Milford man Patrick Shields.
Patrick is a long established singer and guitar player in Milford and he's a member of the choir at St Peter's church. The CD has fourteen tracks and all proceeds are going towards 'The Friends of St Luke's Hospital' in Dublin.
Patrick was a member of the original Fontana Band led by the late Michael Bonner and included John McElhinney, Michael McDaid and the late Patsy McLaughlin. The made their debut in the Milford Hall playing warm-up for the Richard Fitzgerald Ceili Band.
In later times Patrick played with the Lennon Quartet and enjoyed his time but he never considered making music his career and instead opted to sing solo at weddings and funerals. Church music is one of the mainstays of his repertoire and the new CD clearly reflects in his interests in this field.
In more recent times many people would have suggested that Patrick should put some of his favourite tracks on a recording. And with his wife, Adeline they agreed it would be nice for the children to have a memento of his songs.
Peter Hughes agreed to produce the CD and when finished they decided that it would be a pity not to let it be heard by a bigger audience. And then Patrick decided to have it printed and all proceed will go to St. Luke's Hospital. Patrick's daughter, Grace sings the final track, and it is called 'Wonderful Tonight'.
The tracks include Old rugged cross, Change my heart, Oh God, Welcome to my world, Try a little kindness, As the Deer Panteth, Your Wedding Day, Close To You, Why me Lord, Wind beneath my Wings, Behold I Stand, When Uou Were Sweet Sixteen, Lady of Knock, Unconditional Love, and Wonderful Tonight.
