GARDAI arrested a man following a fatal hit an run incident on the Donegal border with Derry yesterday (Thursday).
According to a spokesperson for the PSNI a car travelling from the Bridgend direction struck a male pedestrian just inside the Derry border at Buncrana Road. The accident took place at around 10am.
The vehicle was abandoned and a cross border search for the driver got underway. A short time later a man was arrested in the Bridgend area. A spokesman for Buncrana garda station denied reports that the car involved in the incident was being pursued by gardai at the time. The crossing was closed for a time and diversions were put in place.
