Lisa McHugh continues her journey to Country music stardom.
Last Wednesday night all the family gathered around at my house again to watch
that final pre-recorded programme of Glór Tíre.
It was very nerve-wrecking as my performance, singing the Dolly Parton classic
Coat Of Many Colours, was on last.
It was nice to see all the competitors on television together and I'm really
looking forward to seeing them at the first live show this week.
After the show was over the messages kept flooding in and friends and family
were saying they were really pleased with my performance.
The standard is so high in the competition this year and I am really hoping that
I will get enough votes to take me through into the next live round.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) my parents and I are flying to Derry and then making our way
down to Galway for the live show of Glór Tíre on Wednesday night.
This will be the first time for all competitors to sing live on television, and
with all votes from the first show in September, our solo shows, to last week's
and Wednesday show being counted to get it will be one more chance for people to
vote.
I'm really excited about getting back on the plane and coming over to Ireland
for the first live show. It will be the first time we're all together since
filming in April. I'll be singing my new single, Old Fashioned Girl, which is
really doing well and hopefully viewers will like it.
I'd like to say a special thanks to John Shusie Gallagher of Fanaboy for
contacting Raidio na Gaeltachta and speaking on my behalf as Gaeilge on the
popular programme Rónán Beo @ 3 .
I've been getting unbelievable feedback on my new single, Old Fashioned Girl,
which hit the stations the other week and is receiving great reviews around
Ireland and the UK.
Having a single out there at the moment is a great way to promote myself and
Glór Tíre and people back in Donegal, Derry and Tyrone are telling me they
requesting it non-stop.
I've been doing all the promotional work and sending out CDs myself which is
very hard work, but then when you hear back from the radio stations a few weeks
later, you know it was worth it.
Robert Mizzell has proven to be not only a fantastic mentor for the show, but
also professionally he and Martin Cleary and the rest of Robert's band have
given me so much advice on how to run the business end of things and I'm so
grateful to them.
Now I just can't wait to get back on stage in Galway on Wednesday, and let hope
the Glór Tíre journey continues for me next week.
Please continue to show your support for Lisa McHugh an tune in on Wednesday
night for the first live show of Glór Tíre. To vote for this exciting young
up-and-coming Country star text LISA to ROI: 53500 or NI: 83222.
