Pramerica volunteers show community spirt

On Saturday last workers in Pramerica Systems Ireland took part in the 11th annual Global Volunteer Day, Prudential Financial's premier event for giving back to community. Donegal events were: A concert and garden cleanup at the Hillcrest Nursing Home; A car wash at the Radisson in aid of the Bubblegum Club, which arranges special activities for terminally ill children; A Sport's and Arts & Craft Day for the Donegal Special Olympics in the Vocational School; Tidy Letterkenny from the hospital roundabout on the Kilmacrenan road up to the Mountaintop - down to Arena 7.; Tidy Glen Lake Angling club; Painting the local Community Hall in Muff.

In addition, Pramerica Systems Ireland employees helped out at the local shops of the St. Vincent De Paul Society, which provides support, aid and shelter to underprivileged and disadvantaged people; one Pramerica employee has recorded a CD and is giving all proceeds to the Help the Homeless; other Pramerica employees donated clothes to a collection for St. Vincent De Paul Society and toys and children's clothes to the North West Romanian Relief Fund, which is based in Derry and brings supplies to Romanian Orphanages.

"Global Volunteer Day is our flagship volunteerism event, but equally as important, it is a celebration of the year round commitment that our employees make to support nonprofit organizations in communities where they live and work," said Henry McGarvey, managing director and head of Pramerica Systems Ireland in Letterkenny. "Volunteers are the backbone of any community service initiative and we are proud of the talent, creativity and dedication of our employees. Together, they have made Global Volunteer Day an outstanding success since the program began in 1995."
