Tory enjoys first wedding in years

The first wedding of 2007 on Tory Island took place on Easter Monday. Following in a long-line of family tradition, Helena Rodgers and Kevin Coyle, both from Falcarragh, married there on April 9.

The couple have spent the last few summers on the Island and it was no surprise then that Kevin decided to propose there last summer.

The Tory connection comes from Helena's father Eamonn who was born and bred on the island, and met his wife Bell, a native of Falcarragh when she came to teach on the Island. Eamonn and Bell were married in 1968.

Not only is this a wedding steeped in family traditions, it was also be the first time in many years that a full wedding reception was held on Tory.

The nuptial mass too place in St Colmcille's Chapel with the reception afterwards in Óstan Thoraí.
