Planning permission for three well known premises in Letterkenny

LETTERKENNY Town Council has given the go-ahead for developments at three well known local business premises.

The council granted permission for an extension to the Courtyard Shopping Centre, the re-development of the Brewery Bar and an extension to the Centra supermarket on Circular Road.

Paul Reynolds and Company were granted permission for an additional floor above the Heatons retail unit at the rear of the Courtyard.

It is understood negotiations are underway to secure a prominent anchor tenant for the new extension which is also expected to create a number of new jobs in the process.

The proposed development will also be seen as a major boost to the town's Main Street area which has suffered as result extensive rezoning in recent years.

Meanwhile, Michael Blaney was granted permission for a major re-development of the Brewery Bar at Market Square.

Mr Blaney was granted permission for the demolition outbuildings to provide a new extension to the bar. The layout of the existing building will also be changed and the inclusion of a basement bar. The proposed development also includes improved kitchen and restaurant facilities, four new apartments and a roof terrace.

Two objections were lodged against the development.

Finally, Comron Ltd has been granted permission for an extension to the Centra supermarket at Circular Road, Letterkenny.
