THE funeral took place yesterday (Thursday) of the teenager who died suddenly while on holiday in Donegal last weekend.
Aishling McVeigh, (15) of Brooke Drive, West Belfast had travelled to Ballintra for a week long holiday with six friends. The short stay ended in tragedy on Saturday night last when her body was discovered in a flat on Main Street, Ballintra.
She had complained of feeling unwell and remained in the apartment while the rest of the group went out for a meal. When they returned shortly after midnight they discovered her dead body.
Gardai interviewed the friends of the teenager through the night and they were brought back to Belfast by bus on Sunday morning. A detailed examination of the scene was carried out by the Garda forensic team.
The results of a post mortem examination by the State pathologist are not yet known but foul play is not suspected.
Hundreds of mourners attended the funeral at St Michael's Church with burial taking place afterwards to Blaris cemetery in Lisburn.
She is survived by her parents, Patricia and Stephen and her brother Sean and sister Kerri.
