Tap dancers take top awards

Pupils of the Pop Tap Dance Academy in Raphoe recently gained very high marks in their Tap Medal Exams with the International Dance Teachers Association. Principal Caroline Barker was extremely pleased with all the results which were awarded by an independent examiner.

The Raphoe dancers were examined performing solo tap dances along side 50 other pupils from the Academy in Strabane.

"These wonderful results reflect the standard of training I am offering. I am delighted that every child passsed with such a high mark and showed off their talents with such enthusiasm and dedication," she said.

The Tap Dancers who earned Medals and Certificates achieving the top grades of Highly Commended and Honours were Aoife Wheatley, Aisling Browne, Charlotte Smyth, Rachael Darragh, Ellen Patterson, Amy Lowry, Katie Porter, Niamh Porter and Rebecca Blackburn.

Pop Tape Dance classes run at the Congregational Church Hall in Raphoe on Wednesdays from 3.15pm until 5.15pm. Currently preparing for a big Dance Show in March there are a few remaining places left in the classes. If you are interested in enrolling please contact Kathy Carter on tel. 45276.
