Alternative-folk merchants, Henrietta Game, from Dublin, and Bréag's lead singer Caoimhin mac Giolla Chathain join this month's line up at the Cabaret Craiceáilte, Tigh Hiúdaí, An Bun Beag, Gaoth Dobhair, on Saturday, January 30.
Caoimhín Mac Giolla Chatháin will be joined by the wonderful Italian singer, Flavia Ravela, who performs with him on a regular basis, in Belfast.
Henrietta Game possess uniqueness in both their sound and style making it difficult to classify them definitively.
These 'little gems' (Tony Fenton, Today FM) recently performed at the Cabaret Craiceáilte, at Electric Picnic 2009 and are looking forward to their fist gig in Donegal.
The above mentioned Tony Fenton described their sound as 'evocative lyrical melodies accompanied by haunting vocal and string harmonies'.
Lead singer, Christy Leech combines his passionate and poetic lyrics with exciting melodies and chord-progressions, setting the foundation for the band's complex and clever musical arrangements.
Judy Macnamara, creates the melodies and counter melodies of a suppressed angel, both vocally and with the use of the gentle lullaby-like tones of the glockenspiel.
Aisling O' Connor (aka Ali Baba), sings with a distinctive style and clarity and adds powerful melodic phrases on the violin.
Aongus Mac Amhlaigh, from An Charraig, in Donegal, is responsible for the deep, soul awakening sounds of the cello.
His vocal performances silence crowds who are always surprised to hear such control and purity.
Still a young band (formed January 2009), they have experienced a meteoric rise in the Dublin music scene and have played to sell-out crowds in venues such as Whelans, The Button Factory, and The Sugar Club.
