THE Laghey man who was convicted of the murder of his estranged wife over three years ago has lodged an application for leave to appeal his conviction.
Gary McCrea made the application for leave to appeal his conviction at the Court of Criminal Appeal on Monday. It is likely to be several months before any appeal is heard.
McCrea was found guilty of the murder of his estranged wife Dolores after a trial at the Central Criminal Court in November, 2005. He had denied murdering his wife and burning her body at the rear of the family home.
The cause of death could not be established because the body was so badly burned.
