The CD 'O'Donnell's Abú' was launched in the O'Donnell Arms, Ramelton on Friday night last. All proceeds of the CD will be donated to the Donegal Hospice.
The CD comprises of 15 songs sung by 14 singers, the songs are as varied as the singers whose age profile spans 50 years (the songs on the CD are Gospel, Country, Modern and Traditional).
The idea for the CD evolved from the numerous impromptu sing-a-longs which take place in the O'Donnell Arms, Ramelton.
Ms Marian Roberts is the CD fundraiser Co-ordinator.
"I lived in County Clare for 24 years and I saw the Pub sing-song culture there change from spontaneous to staged entertainment. When I moved to Donegal in 2000 and I was delighted to find that people still sing at the drop of a hat in Ramelton - this CD captures that culture which is unfortunately dying out in Ireland.
"When tourists visit Ireland they love to hear Irish people singing their songs it is a major tourist attraction, what a pity we don't encourage it more," she said.
The CD was recorded live in the O'Donnells Arms in late November. It will be available for sale at retail outlets and pubs in the Ramelton and Milford areas, if you would like to place an order for the CD - contact Marian @ 086 4032182 the CDs are selling at ¤10.
