FATHER and daughter Brian and Lisa Ballard attended the opening of their first joint exhibition at Cavanacor Gallery last Friday night.
Brian Ballard has established a significant reputation over the past thirty years and is one of the country's leading artists for investment. He has also represented in Ireland's major public collections. According to Marianne O'Kane Boal, his contemporary approach to painting alternates between figurative treatment of nudes, and landscape to expressionistic still life, all of which he practises in equal measure and intensity.
The artist has exhibited regularly at Cavanacor Gallery but this will be his largest representation in Donegal to date. Ballard is represented in a number of major public and private collections.
Lisa Ballard obtained a BA in Fine Art from University of Ulster in 2003.
She exhibits regularly in the Annual Royal Ulster Academy exhibition, Belfast. She has also shown with Belfast Print Workshop and the Engine Room Gallery.
In 2003 she won the President's Prize at the Royal Ulster Academy and in 2006 she was awarded the Original Vision Prize sponsored by Robison & Mc Ilwaine Architects.
She has been invited as a guest artist to exhibit at the Royal Hibernian Academy Exhibition 2007.
This was Lisa's first time to exhibit with Cavanacor Gallery.
The exhibition will demonstrate the range of expertise by both practitioners in landscape and still life. There will be over thirty-five paintings on display. The exhibition last until March 31.
