Speed ramps needed to beat boy racers inDromore

RAMPS are to be put in place in Dromore to stop the route being used by boy racers.

Councillor Ciaran Brogan said speeding along this route was the single biggest issue being raised on the doorsteps. He added that the recent decision to close the Trimeragh junction was adding to concerns of residents who have continuously campaigned for speed reduction in the area.

Cllr Dessie Larkin suggested lay bys to allow traffic to pass and asked that the town engineer meet with representatives from the National Roads Authority.

Cllr Jim Lynch said that he was disappointed to learn that money had not been allocated to the area which needs more works than speed calming measures but agreed that something should be done as the road is also being used by cars as a short cut through traffic and there are lots of residents and children in the area.
