Convoy based singer/songwriter Patricia Morris is to use her concert in the Balor Arts Centre in Ballybofey on Saturday, February 6 to raise funds for earthquake-stricken Haiti.
She says an estimated one million children have been left as orphans as a result of the earthquake and she just felt she had to do something to help.
Patricia is to donate all of her profits from the concert to Concern's relief efforts. The Scottish-born artist has been busy this past few months delighting audiences in Letterkenny and at venues such as Harvey's Point Hotel outside Donegal town.
"Patricia's poetic lyrics nicely compliment her guitar playing which showcases both her Irish and Scottish folk influences," said Conor Malone, director of the Balor Arts Centre.
Originally Patricia started writing songs with other more established singers in mind.
Due to popular demand she's been performing these songs herself and recorded her debut album.
Her album, Walk the Wire features the world famous Maggie Riley and was produced by Brian McNeill (formerly of China Crisis) at Ca Va studios in Glasgow.
The album is a mixture of different styles which showcase her inherent and instinctive grasp of song structure and melody.
'Mum with a dream'
Patricia will be remembered by many as the 'mum with a dream' who launched her musical career on RTÉ's You're a Star, making it through to the final days of the bootcamp, and she hasn't looked back since. A multi-talented artist, she is an accomplished singer, songwriter, guitarist and poet. Her live performances have been described as 'magical' and 'hypnotic'.
She will perform in the Balor Arts Centre next Saturday as part of a double bill with Marian Bradfield, who has to date released four solo albums and a live album recorded on a sell out tour of Holland.
Marian has an impressive catalogue of songs, written mostly from her own experiences and observation's, and has been voted one of Ireland's Best Solo Performers by a panel of top music critics.
