LEABHAR Power week continues in Donegal this week with a reading in Eason's Bookshop on Lower Main Street today (Friday).
As part of the Seachtain na Gaeilge, Gearóidín Bhreathnach, author of Cathal Coinín agus Cairde Beaga eile, will read extracts from her work. Pupils from the local Gaelscoil will attend the reading.
Leabhar Power, now in its third year, is set to promote the wealth of Irish language books with a series of events and promotions during Seachtain na Gaeilge. There was a reading in Books and Charts in Dungloe on Monday.
Bookshops all over the country will be holding one-off events, with the cream of Irish language authors, designed to inspire and enthuse children to pick up that book!
Authors including Gabriel Rosenstock, Art O Súilleabháin, Gearóidín Bhreathnach and Tadhg Mac Dhonnagáin will be reading from their best-selling books for children.
At the events, authors will bring their characters to life, creating a unique experience for all involved.
As an added bonus, children who attend events will receive book vouchers that can be redeemed against Irish language book purchases.
SHOWCASE
Leabhar Power will also showcase the best in new Irish writing, for both adults and children, in a new 'best of Irish' catalogue.
The catalogue is an invaluable guide to what's new and what's hot in Irish writing and is now available in all good bookshops as well as libraries all over Ireland, north and south.
Leabhar Power is a promotional initiative organised by Bord na Leabhar Gaeilge, Foras na Gaeilge, CLÉ - Irish Book Publishers' Association, The Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon and ÁIS the book distribution agency.
