Bishop Seamus Hegarty announces clerical changes in Donegal


THE BISHOP of Derry, Dr Seamus Hegarty has announced a number of Clerical Appointments in the Diocese of Derry which takes in part of East Donegal and Inishowen.

The diocese has parishes in most of County Derry, and parts of Tyrone, Donegal and Antrim.

The Diocese of Derry is the third largest in Ireland. There are approximately 233,000 Catholics in the Diocese, with 53 parishes and 104 churches, served by 120 priests.

The ecclesiastical centre of the diocese is the city of Derry, where St. Eugene's Cathredral is situated.

Bishop Hegarty has also announced the following Clerical Appointments in Donegal: Very Rev George McLaughlin, PP Moville to retire; Rev John Farrell, PP Clonmany to retire; Rev John Ryder, PP Greencastle to retire; Rev Robert Devine PP Donaghmore (Killygordon), to be Adm Donaghmore; Very Reverend Seamus Farrelly PP Carndonagh, to be Vicar Forane for Inishowen Deanery; Reverend Patrick O'Kane, Adm Holy Family to be PP Moville; Reverend Fintan Diggan, Adm St Patrick's, Derry to be PP Clonmany; Reverend Peter Deeney, CC Malin, to undertake further studies; Reverend Brendan Crowley, CC Banagher, to be CC Malin.
