Man released after shooting incident inSt Johnston


A 38-year-old man arrested by gardai on Monday following reports of a shotgun being fired in St Johnston in the early hours of the morning has been released.

It is alleged that the legally-held firearm was fired into the air outside the town at approximately 1am on Monday morning.

It is also understood that no injuries were sutained in the incident in which shots were fired from the double-barrelled shotgun.

The man, from the locality, involved in the incident was arrested by gardai at 9.40am on Monday morning and was held in custody at Letterkenny Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. After intial questioing in Letterkenny it is understood the man was transferred to Lifford Garda Station.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Prosecutions (DPP).
