Law and order call from Lynch

A Letterkenny Town Councillor has called for law and order to be placed top of the agenda for the policing committee.

At Monday night's meeting of Letterkenny Town Council, Cllr Jim Lynch stated that it was vital the issue be brought to the fore at the next policing committee meeting.

FRIGHTENING

"It is getting frightening and worrying what is happening at times in Letterkenny and the only forum for this is the policing committee," he said.

Cllr Dessie Larkin suggested that the newly launched initiative 'Pubwatch' could facilitate that Vintners could come on line in relation to the issue.

Cllr Victor Fisher pointed out that parents need to take responsibility for their own children. He said children's behaviour towards gardaí on the Main Street left a lot to be desired.

"Parents have a really big role to play lets not forget that," he said.

Mayor Ciaran Brogan agreed that the issue of law and order should be placed at the top of the agenda at the next meeting of the policing committee.
