DONEGAL'S interest in this year's Ulster Club Championship came to a disappointing end in Brewster Park, Enniskillen, on Sunday afternoon.
Fanad Gaels were held scoreless in the second half by Lavey as the Cavan champions recovered from a five point half-time deficit (1-8 to 0-6) to book their place in the Ulster Intermediate final with six points to spare (1-14 to 1-8). They will play Tyrone champions Cookstown in the decider.
Speaking after the game Fanad manager Manus McFadden admitted that his players were devastated with the way things went after the break.
"If you don't put the ball over the bar you won't win the game. It's that simple," he sighed.
"I thought we were a fit team but their levels of fitness were unbelievable. It just goes to show where they're at. We hit three bad wides at the start of the second half and had another few wides after they equalised. It's very, very disappointing," he admitted.
It was a similar story in the Ulster Junior Championship semi final, also played at Brewster Park, earlier in the afternoon as Moville let slip a first half lead before going down 2-9 to 2-7 against St Teresa's from Antrim.
Kilcoo, who knocked St Eunan's out of the Senior club championship a week earlier, failed in their bid to reach the provincial decider, losing out to Derry champions Loup.
St Eunan's returned to league action on Saturday afternoon, losing heavily at home to Four Masters.
The win means that Joe Lacey's Four Masters team finish the season on 17 points, alongside Kilcar, Dungloe and Naomh Conaill, one point behind St Eunan's and St Michael's and three adrift of league leaders Ardara.
As a result, Ardara now await the winners of the St Eunan's versus St Michael's semi final to decide who wins the league crown while at the other end of the table Glenswilly await of the losers of the four way play-off to decide which side is relegated to Division Two alongside Killybegs.
Meanwhile, Termon will be back playing Division One football next year following their 0-11 to 0-10 extra time win over Malin in Convoy.
County finalists in 2008, Termon will go on to meet Gaoth Dobhair in the Division Two league final while Malin will have to content themselves with another season in Division Two.
They will be joined in Division Two next year by Cloughaneely who beat Urris by two points (0-11 to 1-6) in the Division Three semi final at MacCumhaill Park yesterday afternoon.
Cloughaneely will now play Fanad Gaels in the Division Three League final.
Earlier in the afternoon, Na Rossa beat Burt in the Division Three relegation play-off at the same venue thanks to a last minute Mark Clerkin free.
That result means that the Inishowen club join Robert Emmetts in Division Four next year.
