Convicted paedophile returned to prison

A convicted paedophile who fled Donegal after his cover was blown while on the run from authorities in Britain was returned to prison this week.

Alexander Dalgleish (34) went on the run on November after it was exposed he was living in Donegal Town. Dalgleish was named on a website as one Britain's most wanted paedophile.

At Preston Court on Monday, Dalgleish who worked as a DJ in this county, was sentenced to a year in prison for failing to notify the authorities of his whereabouts.

The former entertainment's manager at a North Wales caravan site was jailed for nine months in 2001 for having sex with one 13-year-old girl and indecently assaulting another. He and four others are wanted in Britain for failing to register their whereabouts under Britain's Sexual Offenders Act 2003.

Dalgleish had been living and working in Donegal Town for over a year under the false name of Paul Williams.
