THERE were growing fears over the future of twelve jobs in Gaoth Dobhair yesterday, Thursday, following confirmation that Tithe an Earagail Teoranta (Errigal New Homes) is to hold a creditors' meeting early next month.
The building firm in the Gweedore Business Park cited the difficult trading climate experienced in the last eighteen months as the main reason behind the decision to issue this week's statement.
Ms Suibhán Nic Grianna, Communications Manager with Údarás na Gaeltachta, confirmed that a meeting of creditors will take place in An Chuirt Hotel on Tuesday, December 8.
"They're looking at re-structuring the company and are trying to trade through this difficult period. Like a lot of companies in the sector, they've been adversely affected by the downturn in the housing market and the difficult current economic climate.
"This time last year they employed twenty people but that number has since been reduced to twelve," she said.
Tithe an Earagail Teoranta has been operating out of a new 12,000 sq ft factory on the Gweedore Business Park for the past two years. The company offers a full in-house service for clients including planning, design, supply and erection of timber framed homes and buildings as well as turnkey packages.
Errigal New Homes has drawn from over 40 years of experience within the construction industry in the manufacture of timber framed buildings in Europe and Scotland.
