CONSULTANTS have been employed to assess the flooding problems in Raphoe, Councillor Gerry Crawford has been informed.
Cllr Crawford welcomed the news that the Office Of Public Works was now carrying out a pre-feasibility study on the flooding problems of the town. He said it was important to continue to work closely with the local community to solve the problem.
The pre-feasibility study will cost ¤30,000 to complete and involves and outline examination of the catchment area, preparation of a hyro model and collection of data using aerial surveys. Investigations into the annual flood damage caused, water studies and an assessment of the environmental impact of a variety of solutions will be tackled within the pre-feasibility study.
Donegal County Council held a number of meetings with the Office of Public works. Council officials have issued the OPW with all data collected, reports and maps relating to flooding.
Cllr Crawford said the ongoing support and funding of Government Ministers was vital in providing continued support for the project.
