More gardai assigned to rural stations welcomed

BY CRONAN SCANLON

THERE has been an increase in the number of gardai posted in rural stations around Donegal since the beginning of this month, it has emerged.

According to well placed sources, there has been a "considerable" increase in garda numbers in all four garda districts across the county.

In what was one of the largest postings, five additional gardai have been allocated to Ballybofey Garda Station.

A spokesman for the Twin Towns station said they were "delighted" with the extra resources given to them.

"There will now be a larger garda presence on the streets and this will benefit everyone in the Twin Towns and the surrounding villages and countryside," the spokesman said.

Local Councillor, Alice Bonner, has been campaigning for extra personnel in the area.
