PLANS are afoot to change the former ACC bank at 45 upper Main street, Letterkenny into five retail units and office spaces with car park facilities.
Developer Sean Lyne C/O of Frontline Asset Management Ltd has applied to Letterkenny Town Council to week to demolish the rear of the premises and build a three storey building containing five retail units and 11 office spaces. The front facade of the old bank is listed and therefore must be maintained during the development. Two of the retail unit spaces have a mezzanine level.
Town Planner Ruth Diver assured councillors the front facade is a listed building. She said there were plans to join the building with the Quality hotel adjacent to the old bank.
Cllr Dessie Larkin said there was provision for a road through that area on the town plan and which needed to be addressed.
Glen Doherty from Ramelton has submitted plans to build 62 apartments and six terrace houses on farmland at Carnamuggagh Upper, Letterkenny.
Mr Doherty has applied for planning permission to demolish existing farmsheds and outhouses at Carnamuggagh Upper. He plans to build a total of 68 dwellings with parking facilities. The new development will consist of six apartment blocks, block A will have 16 apartments, block B, 27 apartments and block C has eight duplex units and four apartments. In Block C2 there are five duplex units and two apartments with six terrace houses on site. A decision on the development is due in August.
Developer PJ McDermott also has applied for permission to build two semi detached houses at Carnamuggagh Upper.
Meanwhile in Lismonaghan RI Scott Construction Ltd has applied to change basement units at the Maples, Lismonaghan into six apartments. There is also a separate application to extend the rear of apartment 21 at the Maples.
