North Fermanagh come away empty handed

NORTH WEST LEAGUE SENIOR 2

North Fermanagh 1st travelled to Limavady on Saturday to play The Nedd in a Senior 2 league match with high expectations following their cup victory the previous week but came away empty handed and beaten by 73 runs.

The Nedd won the toss and elected to bat, running up a very impressive 251 for 9 from their 50 overs, I Smith (50), A Steel (63) and V O'Hara (68) were the main run scorers and only Paul Carlin with figures of 5 for 50 from his 10 overs rose to the challenge, North Fermanagh had a bad day in the field and weren't helped by some bad bowling and some dropped catches.

In reply North Fermanagh got off to an excellent start with Mark Roulston and Ian Wilson putting on 57 runs when Wilson was given out to a very questionable LBW, Roulston again impressed with the bat but quickly ran out of partners finished with 86 runs, and only Greg Wattleworth and John Carlin managed to trouble the scorers and North Fermanagh were eventually all out for 179 in 45.3 overs.

North Fermanagh had a bad day at the office and must now pick themselves up for Saturdays Senior Cup match when they travel to Donegal to play St Johnston in the second round.

NORTH WEST INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE

North Fermanagh 2nd travelled to Ballyspallen on Saturday and came away with a well earned victory, were a mixture of youth and experiance won the day, Ballyspallen batted first and scored 163 for 7 from 40 overs, Brown,Mills and Noble were the pick of the North Fermanagh bowlers and coupled with some good fielding done well to keep the score below 200.

North Fermanagh opened with Pete Keogh and David Mills and the mixture of youth and experience impressed team mates and spectators alike, both batsmen played some beautiful shots, Keogh finished with 46 and Mills with good support from Paul Noble and Gary (Arnie) Armstrong saw North Fermanagh home in 47 overs for a really impressive victory. Skipper Rob Black was delighted with the teams performance and in particular with young Mills who carried his bat for a beautifully crafted 62 not out and with veteran Keogh who was making his first appearance of the season.
