Feis - Classical Music

The Classical Music section of Fermanagh Feis concluded last Sunday, 22nd March, having taken place over five days at Portora Royal School and the Integrated College.

'An exceptional and consistent standard throughout,' was the conclusion of the adjudicator, Martin White. He is a veteran of many music festivals in Northern Ireland, but, this is the first time that he has adjudicated at Fermanagh Feis.

Mr White commented favourably on the organisation of the section but he expressed his disappointment that so many talented older students were performing before a very small audience. It was a pity, he said, that not many parents had been present to enjoy their children's efforts.

He also paid tribute to the two main accompanists, Jeanne Munroe and David Robertson, for their professionalism and dedication to this demanding task.

The section organisers were delighted with the success of the five-day programme and intend to build on this success. They are highly appreciative of all those who participated and also the many teachers, private tutors and parents who support and encourage the competitors to rise to the challenge of taking part.
