Red-coated traffic wardens who, to date, have been tormenting motorists in Enniskillen could soon be patrolling the street of Tempo where, according to the Roads Service, 'exceptional delays' are being experienced by those attempting to drive through the village.
And, it will be all down to the unwillingness of local traders to play ball by agreeing to parking restrictions outside their premises. Notwithstanding that, of course, there is the almost total neglect of the generous car-park behind Main Street where the public toilet block is.
This week, the section engineer in Traffic Management with the Roads Service, Seamus Keenan, responding to concerns from Fermanagh Councillor at the difficulty of through access in Main Street, said his department was, 'acutely aware' of the problem.
He told the Council's chief executive that proposals were now being drafted to restrict parking along the southern end of Main Street and that the Council would be formally consulted.
