Showband extravaganza

The phone lines are red hot as fans of the hugely-successful 'Ireland's Showbands - Do you come here often?' book their tickets for this year's Christmas extravaganza at Belfast's Waterfront Hall.

'Ireland's Showbands - Do you come here often?' celebrates the sounds of the showband era and was one of the fastest-selling shows to have been performed at the Waterfront Hall. Last year over 11,000 people flocked to see the series of concerts which is packed with a wealth of stars from the showband era.

Presented by showband veteran, George Jones, this year's line-up includes showbands legends Dickie Rock, Paddy Cole, Sony Knowles, Sean Fagan, Frankie McBride and Robin Averill who are joined on stage, for the first time, by The Miami Showband, Geraldine Brannigan, Noel Brady and Tony Kenny. All of the performers are accompanied by the fabulous musicians and vocalists of the Galaxy Showband.

At one time over 600 showbands toured across Ireland playing to capacity audiences. Today, most of the clubs, ballrooms and dancehalls associated with the showbands period have disappeared; however, Ireland's Showbands brings the very best artistes of the era together to relive the unique sounds in an evening packed with pure nostalgia.

'Ireland's Showbands - Do you come here often?' runs at Belfast's Waterfront Hall from Thursday 28 to Sunday 31 December 2006 and for the first time in several years at the Millennium Forum, Derry, on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 January 2007. On Sunday 31 December the Waterfront will be transformed into one big dance hall as the now traditional Ireland's Showbands New Year's Eve party sees in 2007!

Tickets for the series of concerts, as well as the special New Year's Eve party, are now one sale from the Waterfront Hall on 9033 4455 or online at www.waterfront.co.uk and the Millennium Forum, Derry, on 7126 4455.
