Driving the wrong way down a one-way street has cost a 31-year-old Enniskillen man £200 and left him with three penalty points on his licence.
Fermanagh Magistrates Court was told that Joseph Kelly, from Coole Drive, was observed by police shortly after 2.00pm, in October last year, in the car park at the back of Wetherspoons in Enniskillen. The officers watched as he drove the wrong way down the adjacent one-way street and turned onto the Wellington Road.
When police followed and stopped Kelly, he told them, "I was trying to rush a piece of slate back to my tiler. I was running short of time and took a short cut."
As a result, he was charged with contravening a traffic sign.
Trial date for burglary charges
An 20-year-old Enniskillen man, who is in custody awaiting trial for a number of offences, including four counts of burglary has had a date set for his court case.
Wayne Thomas John Convey will stand trial in Dungannon Crown Court on 20th March.
He faces a number of offences, including: stealing a purse containing £40, two cash cards, and an electricity card; a PlayStation and assorted games; and a child's seat, in October last year, from a house in Silverhill Manor, along with three similar counts of burglary. Convey is further charged with possession of ecstasy and one similar offence; and of taking a vehicle without consent; and of driving while disqualified.
In custody for breach of ASBO
A defendant on whom an anti-social order (ASBO) had been served was observed by police in a drunken state at the Diamond in Enniskillen on Friday night, resulting in Stephen William Large, from The Brook in Enniskillen, going back into police custody.
Fermanagh Magistrates Court was told that Large was arrested as consuming alcohol is in breach of anti-social behaviour order, which the 20-year-old is subject to. It states that he must not drink alcohol in a public place or be intoxicated in a public place.
As a result of this breach, further bail restrictions were imposed on Large. He is now subject to a curfew between the hours of 8.00pm and 7.00am. Large was released on his own bail of £500, to return to Enniskillen Magistrate's Court on 12th March.
Crashed into rear of vehicle
An Irvinestown motorist, who drove into the rear of another vehicle as he was taking children to school, has been fined £150 and had three penalty points endorsed on his licence for the charge of driving without due care and attention.
Liam Garrity (51) was involved in the accident at the Mossfield Junction at Ballinamallard in October last year when he crashed into the back of a vehicle that was stopped at the junction. Fermanagh Magistrates Court was told Garrity accepted responsibility for the accident at the scene.
Two jailed for burglary
Two Enniskillen men have been jailed for their part in a burglary in November 2005.
Christopher John Williams, with an address at Derrin Road, was jailed for four years and six months; while Edward James Patrick Crerand (24), from Sycamore Drive, Cavanaleck, was sentenced to three years in prison.
Both men were charged with attempted theft, five counts of criminal damage, burglary with intent to steal; burglary and theft; and with taking a vehicle without consent.
Remanded on drugs charges
Four Lithuanian nationals were remanded in custody when they appeared at Fermanagh Magistrate's Court on Monday. The three men and one woman were arrested following a search of a house in the Moy, Co Tyrone at the weekend, during which a revolver, a stun gun, stolen cheques, and a quantity of cannabis and ecstasy were seized.
Eugenijus Gobridas, (23), from Ardean Manor, Moy, was charged with possession of the revolver and three blank firing rounds; of handling stolen cheques; of possession of an electric taser; of possession of cannabis; and of possession of cannabis and ecstasy with intent to supply.
Dmitrijus Semionovas, (31), with an address at Malahide Road, in Dublin, was charged with possession of the class A drug ecstasy, class c drug cannabis, with intent to supply. With importing class A drugs into the UK; and of having entered the UK in breach of a deportation order. Semionovas's fiancee, 21-year-old, Asta Paukstyte, also from Malahide Road, was charged with possession of ecstasy and cannabis with intent to supply. While Povilas Griciukas, (21), from Ardean Manor, Moy, was charged with possession of cannabis; and possession of ecstasy and cannabis with intent to supply; along with the charge of handling stolen cheques. Bail applications were lodged for Griciukas and Paukstyte, but were rejected. All four were remanded in custody to appear at Dungannon Magistrate's Court on 21 March.
