People from across Fermanagh are being encouraged to make a difference in 2007 by becoming an EverybodyOnline volunteer.
EverybodyOnline, an initiative delivered by the charity, Citizens Online on behalf of BT and the Department of Finance and Personnel, helps communities take advantage of the opportunities digital technology and the Internet have to offer.
Volunteers will have the chance to learn new skills, improve their employment prospects and meet new people by showing their local community how to use digital technologies, such as the Internet, email, digital cameras and mobile phones.
EverybodyOnline is a Northern Ireland wide programme. There will be six project officers working with individuals who have a physical disability or a learning disability, and/or with older people in their own homes and in residential care, and, with individuals and communities in Fermanagh/South Tyrone.
Tracy Armstrong, EverybodyOnline Project Officer for Fermanagh and South Tyrone explained that, within Fermanagh and South Tyrone, 70 per cent of households did not access the Internet.
If you would like to help others learn through the use of digital technology, or to find out more about EverybodyOnline in your area, contact EverybodyOnline Project Officer, Tracy Armstrong, on 028 6632 8221 or 07824 327 431 or email tracy.armstrong@citizensonline.org.uk.
