CHIT CHAT extension celebrations

Mahon's Hotel in Irvinestown was the venue recently for Chit Chat clients to have a party.

Clients of the Chit Chat project were joined by visitors from Erne East to celebrate the extension of the service to their area. The party fare included bingo, lunch and music, and great fun was had by all who attended.

The Chit chat project was established in September 2004 and has been managed by ICP ARC Ltd.

To date, 35 elderly people are registered, each of whom receive a daily call each weekday to check on health, safety transport and well being.

The project is run by volunteers, and it started out by servicing seven wards in the Fermanagh area, Irvinestown, Lack, Lisnarick, Trillick, Kesh, Ederney and Ballinamallard.

In November of this year, the Chit Chat project applied successfully to the Community Safety Partnership enabling the project to roll out to the Erne East area, Lisnaskea, Newtownbutler and Roslea. The Partnership is committed to improving the quality of life for everyone who lives, works or visits Fermanagh.
