More than 50% of new cars now need
a manufacturer
specific oil

As car and engine technology gets ever more sophisticated, filling your vehicle with the correct oil is becoming more important than ever, warns car care company Comma.

According to the guide issued to over 8000 garage workshops across the UK by Comma, more than half the vehicles listed now require a vehicle-specific oil. Failure to use the correct specification of oil can result in expensive damage to a car's petrol catalytic converter/diesel particulate filter, and unneccessary wear to moving engine parts.

The Volkswagen/Audi Group (VAG) has led the automotive industry in making the use of the correct oil in all its models a warranty-critical issue, and General Motors has followed suit, with warranties now stating that use of an oil not specified by the manufacturer can nullify the cover provided by the warranty.

To help VAG car owners avoid costly payouts on repairs, Comma has launched its new Prolife 5w30 oil, which meets the requirements for more than 250 VAG vehicles – and their warranties – from across a range including Volkswagen Passat TDI PD from 1998 to the 2005 SEAT Leon.

Prolife 5w30 is a fully-synthetic oil that is available in 1-litre and 5-litre packs, and is the newest addition to Comma's acclaimed Performance Motor Oil range.

To find your nearest stockist of Prolife 5w30, visit www.commaoil.com and use the site's Where to Buy facility.
