As we squelch our way towards the summer holidays the good news is at least there is plenty to see at the local cinema.
And, lets face it, if the weather doesn't improve we could be looking for plenty of things to do indoors over the coming weeks.
For kids, and adults alike, 'Shrek The Third' is now playing at local cinemas and, judging by its popularity it will be showing here for a few weeks yet.
And, for the action junkies out there, Bruce Willis returns this week with another sure-fire summer blockbuster in the form of 'Die Hard 4.0' - the third sequel to the original 'Die Hard' movie.
Also still showing in some places is the second 'Fantastic Four' movie; 'Rise of the Silver Surfer' starring Jessica Alba and various other actors.
However, if none of the above is to your liking there are a couple of other films currently showing that might just suit you.
The first, called simply 'Vacancy', is a smart and well put together shocker directed by Nimrod Antai.
Starring Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson (another Wilson brother) this film has a very simple premise - a young couple encounter car trouble on their way somewhere and have no option but to stay in a dingy motel for the night.
But this is no ordinary motel, or ordinary room, and before long the couple start to hear loud noises from the next-door - even though there is nobody staying there.
Then, the already nervy couple find a series of video nasties depicting murders that look as if they were committed in a dingy hotel room. Can you see where this is going?
Yes, the couple figure out this is the same room that appears in all the videos and, before long, they are set to star in a movie themselves, if you know what I mean.
With echoes to a number of classic movies 'Vacancy' is a short (80 mins) but shocking film which will, most definitely, have you on the edge of your seat. Expect the unexpected.
If this all sounds like it's going the right way but it still isn't quite hard-core enough for you then look no further than 'Hostel; Part II'.
Directed and written by Eli Roth 'Hostel; Part II' is not for the faint hearted. No, we need to put things stronger than that. Do not, under any circumstance, go to see this film unless you are one of the more seasoned horror film watchers - someone who can put up with a lot (a LOT) of blood, gore and guts.
In a story similar to the first (but this time with pretty College girls) three Americans are in Europe studying art. When they finish their course they decide to head off to Prague (a lovely spot) by train but on the way they meet a beautiful model, whom they know, who persuades the girls to change their plans and to come with her to a remote Slovakian Spa.
However good an idea this sounds it is a fatally flawed decision and one which they won't live to regret.
Little do they know that, in venues across the world, very rich men are vying (and paying) to get the chance to travel to this corner of Slovakia and torture and kill these three girls - this seems to be the newest thing for the incredibly rich and aimless.
Anyway, once they have entered the Hostel the girls aren't coming out again. Quite simply, they are all going to be murdered in the most gory, bloody and at times down right sadistic manner conceivable.
Expect a lot of screaming, a lot of terrified running about being chased by people and a lot of dying in bloody ways.
For some, this probably sounds like a good nights entertainment, but for others the only thing they would be going to see is the palms of their hands - as they'll be spending the time hiding behind them.
