It has been another bad time on Fermanagh roads, with two more young lives lost, and others fortunate to avoid more serious injury.
As New Year resolutions go, that should be at the top of every road user's wish list, that greater care is taken. These two young lives bring to 112 the number of people killed on Northern Ireland roads during 2007, slightly over two deaths a week. And, that's not to mention the injured. People might say our roads are dangerous, but, to be fair, they are only as dangerous as people make them.
On a brighter note, there is renewed hope around that the breakthrough at political coming together level will be consolidated. It won't be to everyone's pleasement, but, at the end of the day, no one will bother coming here, to invest or to holiday, if there is continual unrest.
That should be New Year resolution number two, that everyone will play their part to enhance the tarnished image of this overlooked part of Ireland.
As one of our New Year resolutionists put it: 'to be grateful for what we have got, to thank God we have got so far, just to be aware of the beautiful place in which we live'.
Finally, we wish all our readers a very happy 2008.
