The traditional 'Shamrock Parade' took place in the TA Centre in Enniskillen, home of 'C Company 2 Royal Irish' on Sunday morning .
There was a good turnout from the Regimental Associations of the Skins, North Irish Militia, UDR and Royal Irish. Music provided by the Pipes and Drums of the UDR Association Band. There was also good representation from the local Detachments of the ACF.
The Chairman of Fermanagh District Council, Alex Baird was the Inspecting Officer for the Parade, and, after the inspection, Mrs Baird, Fermanagh's First Lady presented shamrocks to the officers and Warrant Officers on parade. Sprigs of shamrock were then presented to all on parade.
The parade then marched past to the stirring music of the Regimental march, 'Killaloe'.
Queen Victoria decreed that Irish regiments wear a sprig of shamrock in their headdress on St Patrick's Day. So, wherever the Royal Irish are serving, they are presented with a sprig of shamrock on St Patrick's morning.
'C Company' are holding an open night tomorrow, Thursday 20th of March in the TA Centre, from 8pm. Anyone who is interested is more than welcome to attend, and those who are unable to attend can text their details to 07512797792 for an information pack.
