AUGHADRUMSEE .....................2-6
TEEMORE .................................1-8
A late victory here for Aughadrumsee over Teemore, Eugene Kearins sliding over the winning point close to the final whistle.
All through it had been a well balanced affair with practically nothing to separate the teams at any stage of the sixty minutes. Aughadrumsee had gone in at the break leading by two points, thanks to a goal which they had scored a minute before the interval arrived. That goal was fired home by Aiden Flanagan and followed up two points each which had been supplied by Damian Flanagan and Eugene Kearins.
Teemore had kept themselves well in the hunt however with the accurate placekicking of Thomas McCusker important for them while they also had an excellent goalkeeper in Mark Prior who looked very confident indeed, pulling off a number of accomplished stops.
In the third quarter the game continued to be finely poised, the teams trading points before Teemore hauled themselves back into the picture with a goal. From an Aughadrumsee point of view this was a poorly conceded score, a 45 allowed to sail direct into the net. Teemore boosted by this were to bring the game back to level terms and it seemed that a draw was going to be the outcome.
But Aughadrumsee who had been just the slightly sharper side and who had led for the bulk of the hour were to hit the crucial final score that edged them the contest.
For the winners, Andrew Toye was to be a sterling figure in the defence while others to do good work for them included Cathal Delea in the attack plus Eugene Kearins and Damian Flanagan.
For Teemore, Ciaran Doherty and Kaelan Barratt were effective in defence with Thomas McCusker and Brendan McBarron also prominent for them.
