A Mr Mag Uidhir, Sinn Féin Activist, last week attacked the rights of those who choose to remain private when placing letters to the Herald. Does Mr Mag Uidhir really claim to speak for the wider readers when he says 'letters which aren't signed can't be taken seriously'? Has he conducted some sort of opinion poll recently to support this claim? Or is everything he states based on assumption?
His own vitriolic remarks damning privacy and choice has last week been given a 'police caution' from his new boss in the PSNI. The policeman has quite correctly pointed out that intrusive questioning breaches individuals Section 75 equality entitlements or better still the European Convention, human right to privacy. Mr Mag Uidhir obviously missed that Sinn Féin lesson in supposedly supporting individuals human rights or have they done a U-turn on that too?
Personally it really doesn't matter if I see a signed name or not. I feel privacy pseudonyms are more interesting and at least pronounceable, your point is obscene.
Mr Mag Uidhir's letter was altogether meaningless with boasts of power-sharing all-Ireland institutions failing to mention a Unionist-dominated Assembly whereby more rights of the Irish people are doomed to failure. We the voters were guaranteed many things by Sinn Féin. Rights to Irish language Act have failed; Policing and Justice powers have not been devolved; no maze stadium; a complete U-turn on education; more British Army stationed here than there is in Iraq; new headquarters for MI5 operating comfortably in Ireland who are in daily control of Sinn Féin and the PSNI. This isn't attacking Sinn Féin Mr Mag Uidhir, this is stating facts. Facts your party conned the electorate about. I will not be conned, nor do I buy your sell-out. I hope you see the grave error of your letter.
