Driver trapped in Wattlebridge as lorry overturns


The driver of a lorry was trapped for a period of time, and traffic severely disrupted following an accident at Wattlebridge on Monday morning. Police are feeling appealing for witnesses to the accident.

Shortly after 11am a tanker carrying 28,000 litres of milk overturned close to Wattlebridge, between Newtownbutler and Clones

The driver was trapped in his lorry for a period of time, while the Fire Service and Ambulance Staff worked to release the driver.

Due to early indications about the extent to the driver's injuries, a Coastguard helicopter from Sligo was called to the scene and it transferred the injured man to hospital in Belfast. Police say the speedy response of the helicopter crew was of crucial assistance in getting the driver to hospital quickly for treatment.

The driver sustained injuries his back, chest, pelvis and legs and was described as being in a stable condition.

Anyone who saw the collision, or came across the scene, is asked to contact police in Enniskillen. The number to call with any information is 0845 600 8000.

The road remained closed for examination for a period of time on Monday.

Monthly Healing Mass

Father Ronnie Mitchell will celebrate the Monthly Healing Mass in the St. Louis Convent Chapel, Monaghan on Monday 9th June at 8.00pm. Rosary 7.30pm. All welcome.

Trailers stolen

Police are appealing for information after two trailers were stolen in the County recently.

The first was a builder's trailer which was taken from a house on Annahilly Road, Dernacloy, Roslea on Thursday 22 May.

The second was taken from a premises in Lisbellaw on Friday 30 May. This stolen item is described as a cattle trailer, one year old, in good condition.

It was taken between 2-4pm on Friday and is marked with the serial number LS.3.5120180.

Anyone who saw suspicious activity in these areas, or who is offered a similar trailer for sale in suspicious circumstances should contact police on 0845 600 8000 or contact Crimestoppers on anonymously 0800 555111.

T-shirt stolen

A white T-shirt with a 'Luve Bug' slogan on it has been stolen from the Exhibit shop in Erneside Shopping Centre.

The item was identified as missing around 2pm on Thursday 22 May, when staff found a broken security tag in the pocket of a pair of jeans in the store.

Anyone with information on the theft should contact police on 0845 600 8000 or Crimestoppers anonymously 0800 555111.

Hillview Meeting

The next meeting of Hillview community Association will take place in the Roadhouse Lounge on Monday, 9th June, commencing 7.30 pm. Everyone is welcome and remember without your support the Association representatives will fail to make an impact on the primary service providers.

The Inter-Agency Group: Margaret Shannon, 11, Hillview Walk, Bea Gallinagh, Brendan Farry and Eugene Kelly. (Next meeting - Thursday, 5th June - Kilmacormick Resource Centre). The continuing strength of the Association is the willingness of members to work for an on behalf of each other. Membership costs £1 per year.

After the date of the next meeting the collectors will call with each household. However, if you choose, you can pay when you come along to the meeting on 9th June.

A full attendance would be a ringing endorsement for the representational work carried out by the Hillview Community Association.
