Prizewinning breeders, the Crawford Bros are delighted that ASDA has decided to work with them in enabling to provide a top quality product at price to suit the commercial market.
They say that from a limousin breed point of view this is another first in terms of putting limousin to the heart of one of the leading UK supermarkets.
They feel that it is important that the farmer/breeder creates a closer relationship with the supermarkets.
"This is a line that we have been pushing for a long time after seeing it work so well in major supermarkets in France and ASDA also believes that the sexed semen has a major roll to play in the beef industry.
"It is something that we saw two years ago in breeding our own replacements from an animal welfare view in terms of ease of calving it is something that the customer would feel strongly about."
ASDA deals with the Crawford Brothers in a mainly conventional way but have also purchased sexed semen to do trials on farms.
The Crawford Brothers see this as a long term commitment between themselves and ASDA and not a one off.
