Man rescued from lake


A man has been rescued after falling into the River Erne at Enniskillen.

Police were alerted shortly before 2am on Monday after the man was reported falling from the Castle Bridge.

The RNLI lifeboat was launched and the man was rescued from Castle Island and taken to Erne Hospital, where he was detained for observation.

Lourdes meeting

A meeting has been arranged in St Ronan's Parish Centre, Lisnaskea for Wednesday next, 25th June, at 8pm, for those pilgrims who are booked on the Clogher Lourdes Pilgrimage that departs on 6th July next.

Travel documents will be distributed and final arrangements will be discussed. The meeting will provide an opportunity for pilgrims to meet organisers and fellow pilgrims.

House damaged in Lisnaskea

More than £500 worth of damage has been caused at a house at Crom Road, Lisnaskea.

The damage to a door and the building was discovered at the premises at Carrickmafergus on Wednesday morning (11 June).

Cylinder stolen

A gas cylinder has been stolen from a house at Drumsloe Road, Ballinamallard.

The yellow cylinder was stolen on Sunday or Monday, June 8 or 9. Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact police.

St Michael's Old Boys meet

Its that time of year again when the 'now very' old boys from the East Bridge Street St Michael's Secondary, Enniskillen meet for a meal and a chin wag, even a drink or several, in the usual hostelry on Monday 28th June.

This year's reunion Mass will be celebrated at 12.00 o'Clock in the old school, now the St Michael's community Centre, to the memory of the teachers and pupils who have passed to their eternal reward. The chief celebrant will be Fr Brendan Shannon, one of the 'old boys'.

Did you attend the old 'Sec', or were you a friend? Well, just pop along and can all catch up with the latest.

Tyres stolen

Tyres worth £500 have been stolen from a house in Ederney.

The items were taken from a garage at the back of the house between the 8 and 9 June.

Celebrating 125 Years of Boys Brigade

This year is the 125th anniversary of the Boys Brigade and, to celebrate the occasion, the West Ulster battalion of the Boys Brigade is hosting a family event at Baronscourt this Sunday, 22nd June. All past and current members of the Boys Brigade, their families friends are invited to bring along their picnics and join in.

The boys from all the companies in the battalion will assemble in uniform at 2.30 and parade with company flags up the avenue of the estate.

The Inspecting officer is Colonel Mark Campbell.

There will be a short service of Praise and Thanksgiving led by the Rev Reid, the battalion Chaplain.

The boys and their families will then have an opportunity to eat to the sound of the bugles pipes and drums of the 2nd battalion RIR.

The Duke of Abercorn will be in attendance and has extended an invitation between 4 - 6 pm to people to view the beautiful gardens of his estate.

Tempo burglary

Police are appealing for information into a burglary near Tempo.

A PSNI spokesman said thieves ransacked outbuildings at a house at Gardiners Crossroads on the afternoon of Friday, June 13.

"We are particularly keen to identify a man and a woman who were in a red car with a trailer attached who drove off from the scene in a hurry after the were disturbed," the spokesman added.
