Enniskillen has just received the runner-up award in the Ulster-In-Bloom competition.
The Chairman of Fermanagh District Council, Councillor Alex Baird, said he was 'delighted with the award'. He stated it was: "Recognition of a lot of work, co-operation and participation involving the Council, traders, service providers and agencies in the town". He thanked all involved in this achievement and referred to the natural beauty of the town and the measures taken into protect and enhance the environment.
Councillor Baird paid tribute to the commitment of the Council staff on the ground who played a major part in Enniskillen's success, saying: "The Council is committed to ensuring these standards are maintained and while Enniskillen has shown the way we acknowledge the contribution made by the traders and people of all the towns and villages of Fermanagh. It is only with the co-operation and help of everyone we can maintain the high standard".
He also acknowledged the success of the Lough Erne Hotel in Kesh which received recognition through a special award for the business sector.
