Has Fermanagh made the Monopoly Board?

The countdown is on and the waiting is nearly over. The votes have been counted and verified and the eagerly anticipated Monopoly Here and Now All-Ireland Edition results are to be revealed next Monday, 1st October.

After an ardent 'Fermanagh Herald' campaign to put Fermanagh on the Board, the Monopoly crusade finally came to a close in May.

However, after having voted faithfully every day, readers were left somewhat disappointed when Hasbro, the Monopoly makers announced that we had to wait a staggering five months to find out where we had polled.

Throughout the month-long voting campaign, pledgers had been able to keep a check on the leader board to see how far up or down their county was faring on the list but, in the last few days, voters were kept in the dark as the Monopoly Board website eradicated the leader board, opting instead to tease our thinking and leave the end of the campaign a 'mystery'.

The last sighting showed that Fermanagh was in a healthy ninth position, which one would assume should secure our position on the final All-Ireland version of the Board. But, with only the top 22 counties guaranteed a place, and with a final surge to place votes, no one will know whether we fared better or worse than our competitors until this week.

The 'Fermanagh Herald' had actively started a quest to put Fermanagh on the Board when the county was polling in last. Over the campaign, the position jumped from 25 to 13, and from 13 to number nine on the leader board.

Now there are only four days to wait to find out where the county has finally polled and whether or not we did enough to secure our position on the board.

Monopoly have posted a blog on their website this week along with a countdown clock suggesting the mystery board is finally ready to be unveiled.

"With only 22 out of the 32 counties of Ireland featuring on the board, make sure you keep an eye out for the announcement of the top 22 counties as voted by you.

"Which county has won the coveted Shrewsbury Road spot on the first ever all All-Ireland Monopoly Board? All will be revealed..."
