A 43-year-old man faces a £200 fine and has had six penalty points endorsed on his licence after he was found to be driving without insurance and came before a recent sitting of Fermanagh Magistrate's Court.
Resident Magistrate Bonita Boyd heard how on Friday, 25th May, David Wallace Galloway from Fortview Park was driving a Citroen AX along the Crevenish Road, Kesh when he was stopped by police at a vehicle checkpoint and found to be without insurance. After caution, he told Police: 'I should have known better'.
Defending, Galloway's solicitor told the Court that the defendant was a 43-year-old married man who accepted and knew he shouldn't have been driving on the date in question. He had started his own business which hadn't succeeded and was in financial difficulties at the time.
However, this was not an excuse. Galloway had been driving for over 20 years and had a completely clear record.
For the offence, Ms Boyd ordered a £200 fine and six penalty points.
