A 43-year-old Enniskillen man faces a £285 fine and has been disqualified from driving for six months after he pleaded guilty to a number of motoring offences and came before a recent sitting of Fermanagh Magistrate's court.
Resident Magistrate Bonita Boyd heard how at approximately 7.00pm on Tuesday, 3rd April, police driving towards Enniskillen on the Tempo Road observed a Mistsubshi van being driven with neither the driver or the passenger wearing a seatbelt. The defendant, John Schofield from Largy Road was the passenger and Lydia Farrell was the driver. The Court heard that Farrell had no insurance to drive the vehicle and that Schofield had given her permission to drive it.
Defending, Schofield's solicitor outlined that his client had been disqualified from driving and that that was the reason why his partner was driving. He accepted that she was not insured to do so. He said his client had been in custody on different matters since May. For permitting his partner to drive without insurance Schofield was fined £250. For failing to wear a seatbelt, he was fined £35.
