Mount Lourdes extends into old St Fanchea's

If you have travelled along Enniskillen's Queen Elizabeth Road recently, you may have noticed that where once there were a littering of mobile classrooms, they are now no more.

That's because the staff and pupils of Mount Lourdes Grammar School have moved into their extended new building, what was the old St. Fanchea's College site.

The impressive extension comes equipped with a stylish covered walkway linking the two buildings.

The new structure boasts a fresh ICT suite, three science labs, a hall/gym and classrooms for Spanish, German, Economics and Politics.

In the near future, the school's fitness suite will also be moved over.

Welcoming the move, the Principal Maureen McKeever said both staff and pupils were delighted.

"Everything has been built to a high standard and is of high spec, with great attention paid to detail. It means that there are no more mobiles, which is a great improvement.

"There is a covered walkway between the new extension and the old building, and there will be another walkway between the technical suite and the current building so that by the end of October no child will have to go outside to get to a classroom.

"It has made a great difference for staff. The classrooms are big, there is great lighting and there are data projectors and whiteboards in each room.

They had these already, but now they have classrooms they can be based in, which in turn enhances the teaching and learning experience.

"The pupils love it and see a great improvement from the mobiles," Maureen McKeever concluded.
