An Enniskillen woman has appeared before Fermanagh Magistrates Court charged with allowing her dog to stray. Marie Reihill, from Cleenish Park was fined £75.
The court heard that on the morning of 1st May this year, a report was received by the Council that a dog was chasing livestock at Drumkeen, Culkey, Enniskillen. The dog warden attended and a dog was caught. The animal's tags identified the defendant as the owner of the dog. A notice was issued to the owner to pay a fixed penalty for allowing the dog to stray, but this offer was not availed of.
Charged with cultivating cannabis plants
A 45-year-old Brookeborough man has appeared before Fermanagh Magistrates Court charged with drugs offences, including cultivating cannabis.
Appearing before the court for the holding of a preliminary enquiry into his case was David Charles Lee, with an address at Brooke Drive in Brookeborough.
Lee is charged that on dates between 1st March 2008 and 1st July 2008, he cultivated cannabis plants. He also faces a charge of possession of cannabis and another charge of possession of cannabis resin between the same dates. District Judge Liam McNally agreed with the prosecution that, on the basis of the papers before the court, there is a prima facia case for the defendant to answer. The accused was remanded on continuing bail to appear before Omagh Crown Court on 16th December.
Drove without insurance
A second conviction for driving without insurance has led to one motorist being fined £300 and disqualified from driving for six months.
Arujdas Filis (22) from Drumbeg in Enniskillen was stopped by police driving a BMW car at Hall's Lane in Enniskillen on 30th August. He had no insurance.
Bernard Corrigan, defending, told the court this was the defendant's second conviction. His client no longer had any vehicle.
Motorist drove carelessly
Driving without due care and attention was the charge that Michael McGIllion (51) from Mullynaburtlan Road, Lisnaskea pleaded guilty to when his case came before Fermanagh Magistrates Court recently.
On 6th June this year, the Court was told, a road traffic collision occurred at the entrance to Quinn's cement plant on the Ballyconnell Road, Derrylin.
The injured party was driving in a BMW car towards Enniskillen, travelling at about 60mph, when he had to swerve to avoid a Ford Transit van, driven by the defendant, turning across his path into Quinn's.
The defendant told police he was waiting to make a right turn into Quinn's. He was fined £250 and had three penalty points endorsed on his licence.
No insurance
Collette Gillen (41) form Station Court, Drumnarullagh, Kesh has been fined £300 and had six penalty points endorsed on her licence for having no insurance.
On 27th July, police at the A4 Belfast Road at Maguiresbridge stopped the defendant driving a Rover 200 car. She was asked to produce her driving documents and had no insurance.
